Listen

L

I need you to listen and listen close,

but I know you won’t.

I open my mouth, then snap it shut,

for I know you’d not understand.

There’s so many things I’d wish to say,

but I don’t anyway.

For it would be of no use,

and all I’d get back is the abuse.

No one will listen and bear my burden of the things I’d say aloud,

for I know my words would not make you proud.

It’s a lot to carry and hard indeed,

but there is something I desperately need.

I need you to listen, to lend an ear,

but I cannot control what you will hear.

Theres a lot to say and a lot that’s been said,

but you need to know what’s going on in my head.

Just a warning, something you should know,

my head is a dark place, somewhere you should never go.

But I’ll let you in, just a sneak peak,

but please let’s not play hide and seak.

I trust you enough to hope you’d not run,

for I know this journey won’t be fun.
